Dyslexia Advocate Certificate Program - through the Dyslexia Training Institute (online)

The Dyslexia Training Institute has been offering the Dyslexia Advocate Certificate Program since 2014. This program is designed to teach participants how to advocate for students with dyslexia in our school systems. Participants will learn about the Individuals with Disabilities and Education Act (IDEA), FAPE, IEPs 504s, appropriate accommodations, letter writing, how to request and receive appropriate services and interventions, dispute processes and resolutions, as they all relate to a student with dyslexia. Upon completion participants will have the information they need to effectively work with families and the school districts to ensure the laws are respected and that children are receiving the services and accommodations they need.

This program does teach participants how to identify characteristics of dyslexia in assessment data and student work samples. However, this program does not teach participants how to conduct evaluations.

This program does not teach how to implement remediation. For that training, please consider our Dyslexia Certificate Program or Introduction to Structured Word Inquiry course.

Trainings also available in 2023: Spring Cohort - January 30 - March 31, 2023; Fall Cohort - October 9 - December 15, 2023
