Preschool Support: Let’s start the conversation NOW!

If you suspect your child has dyslexia, early recognition and intervention can change your child’s whole school experience. Here are some resources specific to your preschooler that can help them as they continue on their schooling journey.

  • -Mispronouncing words, like saying beddy tear instead of teddy bear, aminal for animal or pasketi for spaghetti.

-Struggling to name familiar objects, remembering names or forgetting labels. Using general words like "thing" and "stuff" for common items.

-Having a hard time learning nursery rhymes or song lyrics that rhyme

-Having trouble remembering sequences, like singing the letters of the alphabet, order of the rainbow, days of the week or seasons.

-Telling stories that are hard to follow or having trouble talking about an event in a logical order.

-Having difficulty remembering and following directions with multiple steps.

-Family members who struggled with reading or spelling in school or have received a dyslexia diagnosis.

Diagnosing dyslexia doesn't label your child, it empowers them. Understanding the 'why' behind challenges is key to addressing them effectively.

“I would have given anything to have known in preschool that my son potentially had dyslexia. It would have launched me into learning more on my own and being more proactive with his K-2 teachers when he didn't meet certain milestones.”
