Goals For This Community

Our main goal with this group is to help individuals in our community with dyslexia and the families supporting them thrive by relying on their strengths and have the right resources needed to help with weaknesses.

We were all inspired by the below story and hope you find comfort and encouragement in it like we have.

The Giant Sea Turtle

Crossing the beach, the giant sea turtle looks awkward, kicking up sand and dragging itself slowly. But once it enters the water, that giant sea turtle dives deeper, swims more gracefully, and lives longer than most other animals in the ocean. If your child can make it through the difficulties inherent in the beach of school and make it to the water of life, she will be successful. And if you can change the nature of school to be more like life, where you can rely on your strengths and get help with your weaknesses, you will start seeing success that much sooner.

Additional Goals of our Group

Educate, Empower, Advocate

It can be very overwhelming as a parent walking alongside your child who has a learning difference. Our goal is to help create a network of experts, parents, teachers and community leaders within the Inland NW dedicated towards providing support and resources to help on this journey.

Gather

We look forward to gathering in person throughout the year to highlight different areas of interest specific to dyslexia and other learning differences. Panel discussions, Q&As, time to meet other families, sharing stories and building community are all things we hope will stem from this initiative.

Recruit

There is a critically low number of qualified professionals available to support the needs of dyslexic students in the Inland NW. We hope to find ways to help support the growing demands in this field.
